Defensive side of the ball

We talked offense yesterday lets talk Defense, because we all know the old saying "offense wins games but DEFENSE wins championships"  Both D's are extremely good and very fast.  LSU's might be a little faster, but I think Bama might be a tad more physical.

Defensive Line: LSU They were able to slow down the high powered Duck attack at the beginning of the year controlling the line of scrimmage and get a good push up the middle.  They have not allowed much since then coming up with big play after big play when needed.  Alabama is lacking the big name on the line that they have had in the past aka MT. CODY but still pretty good.  If LSU wants to win this game the DLINE has to continue to play well and force a fumble or 2 out of Richardson.

Linebackers: ALABAMA  I do not think this is close with the depth that Bama has Courtney Upshaw D'onta Hightower, Nico Johnson these all should be household names by now.  They are all over the field and make big stop after big stop.  LSU's guys are good, but when you can go his deep with upperclassman and have seen just about everything, it is hard to argue against this depth.

Defensive Backs: TIE  how can this be easy IT IS!!!!!!  LSU has the top corner in the nation in Mathieu and Bama has the top safety in the nation in Barron.  When something like this occurs I can only think of 1 thing to do and that is call it a tie.  Although, I did here this stat yesterday which was really intersting to me: On pass plays of 15+against the LSU defense  they (LSU) have more INTs 6 than completions 5.  This to me is a big boy stat but not enough to convince me that LSU dbs are any stronger than Bamas, therefor it is a tie still.
